The defeat of logic, of common sense, of balance. The victory of political correctness, of woke madness imposed by force of hooks and uppercuts. Angela Carini chose to say no to those who, comfortably seated in an armchair, were putting her life at risk. And so, after forty-six seconds, she decided to interrupt the match against the hyper-androgynous Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. Then, after the judges validated her choice with the official verdict, the Italian knelt in the ring and cried. “I really hurt myself, I decided without thinking twice. I thought about my family. To understand that this was, in all respects, a meeting outside of any scientific logic, it is necessary to take a step back. The Algerian athlete is not a transsexual, as was initially erroneously said (and written). She is a woman, but with a series of very evident disorders, an anomalous chromosomal map, which gave her a musculature, a quantity of testosterone and a bone structure closer to that of a man than a woman. An affair that, in a flash, transformed into an unprecedented political clash. “I have been trying to explain for years that certain theses taken to the extreme risk impacting especially on women’s rights – underlined the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni -. Athletes who have male genetic characteristics must not be admitted to women’s competitions”. The secretary of the League, Matteo Salvini, also shared the same opinion. “Our athlete had to withdraw. Shame on those bureaucrats who allowed a match that was evidently not on equal terms. Everyone in Italy and around the world has noticed, except the distracted commentators on Rai. The President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, used social media to express his closeness to the Italian champion. “Angela’s inconsolable crying affects us, but her withdrawal does her credit. So everyone agrees? Obviously not. The left has managed to be on the wrong side (and it was frankly difficult) on this occasion too. “Now they will run to Angela to make her a symbol and national heroine, maybe they will try to nominate her. She will become the martyr symbol of this non-existent gender ideology – said Vladimir Luxuria, former deputy of Rifondazione Comunista – it is the first time that there is all this triumphalism for someone who loses. I remember that it was her choice to withdraw”. Also inevitable is the position taken by Laura Boldrini, deputy of the Democratic Party and President of the Permanent Committee of the Chamber on rights in the world. “In what capacity and with what powers do the second highest office of the State, half of the government and even the Prime Minister, supported by anti-choice movements, think they can decide who can and cannot compete in the Olympics?”. The answer is all too simple and is contained in two words, easy to understand: scientific evidence.
