The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, attended the funeral of the leader of the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh in Doha, Qatar, on Friday afternoon local time.
In a video shared by Jusuf Kalla’s Special Staff for Media, Yadi, received in Jakarta, JK, wearing a white shirt and black cap, stands at the side of the grave with a number of other figures.
He raised his hands as prayers were offered by the funeral director. In addition, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Indonesian People’s Alliance to Defend Palestine (ARI-BP) Prof. Din Syamsudin was also seen behind JK.
As many as two stakes are in Haniyeh’s tomb which are covered with sand and rocks.
Previously, JK left for Qatar on Thursday (1/8) to attend Haniyeh’s funeral.
“This fulfills the hope of sending an Indonesian delegation there and we were invited to attend the funeral of the late Ismail Haniyeh,” said JK in a statement before leaving.
The Hamas leader was killed along with his aide in a missile attack targeting his residence in northern Tehran, Iran on Wednesday (31/7).
