As provided for in the draft of such a resolution, the commission will consist of the prime minister, the chancellor of the government and all ministers, except for economy and innovation, energy and culture.
In its meetings, the commission will consider inter-institutional issues related to the presence of the German brigade in the country, and will initiate the adoption of the necessary decisions.
It will also assess the measures needed to ensure the presence of the military unit and, if necessary, make proposals to the Government “regarding the allocation of necessary resources or other decisions related to the implementation of such measures.”
According to the draft resolution, Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas will be tasked with forming a working group from the representatives of the institutions represented in the commission.
With the help of independent experts, representatives of state and municipal institutions, institutions and other organizations, it will consider inter-institutional issues and provide solutions related to the provision of civil infrastructure and services.
A. Anušauskas is also obliged to represent the Government in the joint working group of the defense ministries of Lithuania and Germany.
Germany promises to deploy a brigade in Lithuania in the next few years, next year they promise to sign an interstate agreement.
It is planned that Germany will deploy tanks, two maneuver, artillery and logistics battalions in Lithuania.
Vilnius and Berlin are currently negotiating what kind of infrastructure Lithuania will have to provide for the arriving German soldiers. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has said that Lithuania will have to prepare not only military, but also so-called social infrastructure, such as schools, kindergartens, and leisure spaces.
