A special evening of rebetik and folk song is being co-organized with the Cultural Association of Kato Alissos next Saturday, August 3, 2024, by the Region of Western Greece, as part of this year’s program of cultural events. The “Evenings Are Coming” event will be held at 9:30 p.m. at the Basketball Court of the Kato Alissos Kindergarten (near the New National Road of Patras-Pyrgos).
It is a musical experience full of melodies and emotions that will take the audience on a journey into the world of rebetik and folk song, with the harmony of the folk guitar, the depth of the double bass, the melody of the violin, the pulse of the bouzouki and the rhythm of the percussion.
In the company of the unique songwriter, performer and master of the bouzouki, Vangelis Korakakis, who will sing his great hits such as: First autumn, Mana po zo, Pali das dossin o crazie and other old folk and rebetika songs that left an era, we will live a a night of authentic Greek music, full of nostalgia, passion and fun, that will remain unforgettable.
The orchestra consists of: Yiannis Papageorgiou (guitar-vocals), Agis Papapanagiotou (double bass – vocals), Myrsini Pontikopoulou Venieri (violin – vocals), Vassilis Korakakis (bouzouki – vocals), Stratis Skourkeas (percussion). The following dance groups also participate: Cultural Association of Agyia – Terpsithea, Association of Teachers and Kindergarten Teachers of Patras, Dance Group of Kato Alissou.
The Vice-Regional Governor for Culture, Panagiotis Bramos, stated that the institution of the Region implements a multi-dimensional program of events that geographically covers every municipality in all regional units.
