The trial of UGDD party president Pépé Francis Haba, originally scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Dixinn Court of First Instance, has been postponed until the opening of arguments next week.

Francis Haba was arrested on Sunday, July 28, 2024, and detained by police at the National Gendarmerie High Command, before being released for health reasons. However, his co-accused has been in preventive detention since July 31.

Initially, the Dixinn Public Prosecutor’s Office suspected that the actions of Francis Haba, Simone Pierre Camara, Bienvenue Théa, Pierre Kamano, Ange Kolomou and Joseph Maomou constituted “the dissemination and provision of information, photographs, writings or any other representation of theories or ideas of a racist or xenophobic nature through a computer system”. This was stated by Biwon Millimouno, Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Dixinn Court of First Instance, in a press release dated Monday, July 29, 2024.

But the latest news shows that the pre-trial judge only retained the facts of “assault and threat to public safety.”

Today’s hearing was postponed until next week due to the death of Mamoudou Fodé Diallo, president of the Kankan Court of First Instance, and Me Mickaël Diakité, a lawyer from the Guinean Bar Association.
