SYRIZA for follow-ups: Request to convene the Institutions and Transparency Committee of the Parliament – 2024-08-03 03:11:03

SYRIZA – PSaccording to a party announcement, submitted a request for the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Institutions and Transparency Committee based on article 43A of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament.

To her, wanted “to summon the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Ms. Georgia Adelini, as well as the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr. Achilleas Zisis, in order to inform the opposition parties, but also to give the members of the Commission the complete file of the wiretapping scandal, for which the relevant order of the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court was issued “on archiving the wiretapping case”.

As it is also pointed out, among the documents it must be given to the members of the Committee:

  • The multi-page (300 pages) conclusion of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr. Achilleas Zisi, who conducted the preliminary examination.
  • The relevant order of the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court on “filing the case”.
  • The findings of the Independent Authorities and other bodies, which are mentioned in the announcement of the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Ms. Georgia Adelini.
  • The MPs – members of the Special Standing Committee on Institutions and Transparency Tzakris Theodora, Xanthopoulos Theofilos and Christidou Ralia state, specifically:

“Because the competence of the Committee according to article 43A of the Civil Code includes “parliamentary control over the issues concerning the activity of the National Intelligence Service (NIS)”, while in addition “The committee can summon to a hearing officials of state, as well as any public person for issues related to the functioning of institutions and transparency, whose attendance is mandatory. The committee may summon the president and vice-presidents […] of the Supreme Court for issues related to operational issues of justice for the purpose of enhancing transparency.”

Because the EYP-Maximo wiretapping scandal shook the foundations of Democracy in our country, consisting of illegal surveillance not only of political figures, Ministers, Senior Officials of the Armed Forces, former Ministers and officials of the Official Opposition, of the then-candidate leader of the third party against the parliamentary class, MPs and MEPs, journalists and private individuals,

Because the above conclusion should have come immediately, that is, yesterday, to the Parliament of the Greeks and at least have been served to the Political Leaders and in particular to Mr. Androulakis as directly affected,

Because in any case, the Institutions and Transparency Committee must take cognizance of the assumptions and reasons on which the judicial judgment of the above-mentioned public prosecutors is based on the act of archiving the case.

After that

We request

The convening of the Committee for the discussion and decision-making on the above issues”.
