Asuncion, IP Agency.- A technical team from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) verified the critical points of Lake Ypacaraí and its basin, which included measurements to determine the water quality, both in the lake and in its main tributary streams (Yukyry and Pirayú).
According to the report from the Ministry of Public Works, the objective of the tour was to gather current data on the lake in view of the first Identification Mission that representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will carry out soon.
All of this is within the framework of the Comprehensive Sanitation Plan for Lake Ypacaraí by the IDB-Clima program, to be financed by said multilateral organization.
The activity was led by officials from the Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (Dapsan) together with the National Directorate for the Management and Handling of Lake Ypacaraí (Dinalaypa), members of the inter-institutional working group created for that purpose. The specialist Dr. Juan Escriba was also present to carry out the analyses.
It is worth noting that last December, the Government of Paraguay and the IDB had marked a milestone in the fight against climate change by signing a momentous agreement during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-28) in Dubai.
This agreement, focused on the climate agenda, positions Paraguay as one of the first countries in the innovative BID-Clima program, which in our case contemplates the recovery of this natural heritage of all Paraguayans.
