Cardinal Baltazar Porras celebrates the massive participation in the elections

The archbishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Caracas, Cardinal Baltazar Porras, spoke about the electoral process taking place in Venezuela and celebrated that Venezuelans have come out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote on July 28.

The representative of the Venezuelan Catholic Church stated that the institution has made efforts to find the “better roads for the whole country.”

«The first thing we have to learn from is the great example that the population is giving us. Not only today, but throughout all these previous days. We have to value our people more” said the Cardinal as he left his polling station.

Porras also pointed out that unlike other electoral processes in which he has participated, this has been the one in which has seen a greater turnout of voters.

“I think it’s been impressive. I’ve never seen such a massive turnout as now. There are centres where people even slept there or are there from the early hours of the morning to cast their vote. It is positive that the entire population has woken up and has the need to feel that they are the protagonists.“, the cardinal noted.

Finally, the Cardinal asked the population not to pay attention to rumors or unverified information. who only seek to demotivate.
