At his first statements as a Union player o Yannis Gavasiadis he mentioned that for his choice to compete this year in A.E. Glaukos Esperou “definitely played.” the role of the presence of the coachwith whom I worked the previous season at Fanaria Naxos and we had good chemistry both athletically and humanly, but also overall the group approachwith the people of the Association being very friendly and they hug me, making me feel very beautiful right from the start”. Regarding the goals, the experienced athlete emphasized that “the goal has nothing to do with age or category. I want to give 100% everyday both in training and in matches and to help the team so that day by day get chemistry and getting better so we can claim promotion.
The one born on the 5ththe October 1994, in Attiki, Yiannis Gavasiadis is 2.03 tall and plays as a power forward/center. He started playing basketball at the academies of Terpsithea Glyfada, where he competed until 2010, while he continued as a teenager in A.O. Neo Argyroupoli, where he remained until 2015competing in the 1st E.S.K.A.N.A.
His first appearance in the National Categories was with the shirt of the Philatelic Painter in the 2nd National (2015-16), where he competed for 3 years, with the team being renamed E.F.A.O.Z. (Zografou Philanthropic Sports Club Association), participating in the 2nd National League and the following 2 seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18), with the athlete having a double-digit scoring average. This was followed by the transfer to G.S. Lavriou and the Basket League (2018-19), while in the next 3 years they found him competing in the A2′ National team and specifically in A.E. Psychiko (2019-20), to A.O. Pagkratiou (2020-21) and in Korivo Amaliadas and Panerythraiko 2021-22.
In the previous 2 years, he played in the 2nd national team, specifically in the national team of Piraeus 2022-23 (5the position, with m.o. 11.1 points per match), while in the previous season, 2023-24, he competed in APAS Naxos “Ta Fanaria” during the period 2023-24under the technical guidance of the Union’s current coach, Costas Roumeliotis, scoring by m.o. 9.2 points per game and helping the team capture the 3the place in the regular season of the 1st Group of the 2nd National Team with a record of 16-8 and reach the semi-finals of the play-offs.
