Enrique Márquez proposes that the CNE conduct an audit with minutes of the votes

  • The presidential candidate indicated that if the audit yields a different result than the first bulletin of the electoral body, the proclamation of Nicolás Maduro should be revoked.

Presidential candidate Enrique Márquez shared a statement in which he demands that the National Electoral Council (CNE) publish the minutes corresponding to the presidential elections of July 28 and conduct an audit, because the first bulletin of the electoral body was issued without any evidence to prove its veracity.

Márquez explained that he tried to submit this document to the CNE since Tuesday, July 30, but that the electoral body has remained closed until now, so he decided to make it public on his X account.

The statement has a series of recommendations for the CNE, in view of the complaints that the entity has made about Alleged hacks of the technology platform which transmits voting data to the CNE system.

The candidate expressed his concern about the possibility that the results could be altered and that the next CNE bulletin could show percentages different from those corresponding to the votes cast on July 28.

What does Enrique Márquez propose?

In the document, the politician requests that an audit be carried out comparing 100% of the voting records with the receipts deposited in the safekeeping boxes to verify that they match.

He added that it is necessary for the electoral body to publish a resolution ordering the audit with each of the steps to follow during the verification of the results.

He also requested that all digitalized minutes be sent to the participating candidates so that each party can verify the results on its own.

Enrique Márquez pointed out that it is imperative that after the audit, the official results of the presidential elections be published, both on the official CNE website and in the Electoral Gazette.

He explained that if the audit yields a result different from that reflected in the first bulletin, the act of proclamation of Nicolás Maduro should be revoked and the candidate who has obtained the majority of votes should be proclaimed as president-elect.

Election results

The CNE issued an announcement on Monday, July 29, in the early morning the first bulletin with results of the presidential elections and declared Nicolás Maduro the winner.

The PUD later confirmed that Edmundo González was the winner of the elections by a large majority of votes. On Tuesday, July 30, the election was enabled a Web page where you can check the results of the voting table in which each user is registered by entering their ID number.

According to the opposition coalition, González obtained more than 7 million votes, with 81.85% of the votes, compared to the more than 3 million votes that Maduro obtained.

The CNE was scheduled to issue the second electoral bulletin on Friday, August 2, almost four days after the close of the electoral period in Venezuela.
