Before her burial in family privacy this Saturday at the Missolo cemetery, in the north of Libreville, the former Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Public Works, Yolande Nyonda, who died on July 13 following a cardiac arrest at the Libreville Army Training Hospital, received moving tributes this Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Sainte Marie Cathedral in Libreville where a mass was said for the eternal rest of her soul.

In addition to the relatives, friends and acquaintances of the illustrious deceased, almost all of the country’s political and administrative elite were present at this service. The series of tributes began with the moving funeral oration read by Manuella Nyonda, the deceased’s eldest daughter.

“A courageous, energetic, committed, avant-garde, devoted woman, who knew how to combine elegance and humor, mom, many of us are mourning you today. You leave a great void but many memories that we will always cherish. Strong, smiling and funny until the end, we will all miss you forever. To God, dear mom.”she said with emotion.

Following these vibrant tributes, Professor Michel Mboutssou said on behalf of the family that, “We were happy to have shared a part of your life with you. You who had the art of cultivating laughter, good living together. You made these moments of encounters joyful and unique. How can we forget them, when they are an integral part of ourselves. You were faithful in friendship, generous and very often available with an attentive ear.”

For Dr. Nicole Assélé, whose closeness to the illustrious deceased was pronounced, “Yolande Nyonda, our childhood friend, our sister, a sincere, loving, generous, dynamic and caring woman left us too soon. Oh how difficult it is to pay tribute to an exceptional friend, who shared with us more than 46 years of invaluable friendship. Yoyo!! as we loved to call her affectionately was more than just a friend, she was a pillar, a rock on which we could always lean.”
