Maduro announces special commission with advice from Russia and China

This Monday, President Nicolás Maduro, during a meeting of the National Defense Council and the Council of State, announced the creation of a special commission with the governments of Russia and China.

The purpose of this commission will be to evaluate the attacks on the National Electoral Council’s (CNE) communication system, after a “hack” in the transmission of data during the last presidential elections was revealed.

During his speech, Maduro also ordered the deployment of a special plan for the National Armed Forces and police forces to carry out patrols and protection of streets and avenues.

Maduro reiterated on Tuesday that the country is experiencing “a massive attempt at destabilization” that seeks to “attack the peace of the people, of the institutions, and against everything.”

“Mr. González Urrutia, I hold you responsible for everything that is happening in Venezuela, for the destruction, and you too, Mrs. Machado,” said the Venezuelan president.

He insisted that, this time, there will be no impunity and dismissed criticism of the arrests from abroad, saying, “Now they are going to say that they are political prisoners.”
