“It’s great that the selection of the museum manager has received record interest. The Corporate Affairs function has never received so many resumes – we had more than 100 candidates. The new manager has not only the usual requirements, such as the maintenance and renewal of the museum’s expositions or the organization of the museum’s work, but also the preparation for the Railway Museum becoming a public institution, as well as greater openness of the museum to the public, the search for new partners,” says Aleksandras Zubriakovas, director of the Corporate Affairs function.
Vija Platačiūtė, who completed her doctoral studies, headed a non-governmental organization for eight years, carrying out social projects and research in the fields of human rights, equal opportunities and migration, and contributed to the establishment of the Lithuanian Diversity Charter. After moving to the cultural sector, she worked as a project manager, concert and festival organizer, exhibition curator, and has experience in the field of communication and public relations.
Located in Vilnius, the Railway Museum is the most modern railway museum in the Baltic States, which, by offering various excursions, educations and interactive experiences, provides a modern and attractive introduction to the profession of a railway worker, the history of railways or the latest technological solutions being implemented. The museum also owns an outdoor exhibition in Bėgiai Park and a branch in Šiauliai.
