The boxing world has been shocked by the death of a 29-year-old British boxer who fell dead from a blow in his first professional fight!
Sherif Lawal went down to a head kick from Malam Varela in the fourth round of a scheduled six-round middleweight bout on Sunday at Harrow Leisure Centre. The referee called him off to allow paramedics to attend to Lawal. He was taken to hospital but died. He was 29 years old.
“The British Boxing Board of Control sends its condolences to the family of Sherifdeen Lawal following his tragic death following his boxing match on Sunday,” the board wrote in X on Monday.
“The thoughts of everyone involved in Great Britain Boxing are with them at this difficult time.”
