A man named Angga Darmawan alias Bonge (40) was arrested by the police for stealing a helmet at a vegetable shop in the Pondok Aren area, South Tangerang. The results of the investigation showed that the perpetrator had stolen helmets dozens of times.
“This is a specialist helmet thief, he has committed his actions 18 times,” said Pondok Aren Police Chief, Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq in his statement, Tuesday (30/7).
The theft committed by the perpetrator ended after he stole a helmet in front of a vegetable shop on Jalan Raya Pondok Aren, Tangsel, on Sunday (28/7) afternoon.
His actions were also recorded by CCTV in the shop. Receiving a report of the theft of the helmet, the police immediately conducted an investigation at the location.
“The results of the CCTV recording show that the perpetrator who stole the helmet of the Sanum Shop visitor was a man wearing a black hat and a gray sweater riding a black and white Yamaha Xeon motorbike,” he explained.
The perpetrator stole a helmet that was placed on a motorbike belonging to a shop visitor. From the CCTV footage, the police then investigated it until they found out the perpetrator’s whereabouts.

“On Monday, July 29, 2024, at around 21.00 WIB, the perpetrator was successfully arrested at his current residence in a boarding house on Jl Sarmili RT 004/002, Jurangmangu Timur Village, Pondok Aren District,” he said.
The results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted to committing the theft dozens of times. Often, he stole helmets in the Jurangmangu area, Pondok Aren, Tangsel.
“The perpetrator admitted and explained that from the beginning of July until now he has stolen helmets 18 times, including in the Pondok Aren area and parts of Ciledug,” he said.

Furthermore, after committing theft in front of the vegetable shop, the perpetrator continued his action by stealing a helmet on Jalan Raya Pondok Betung on Wednesday (24/7) afternoon.
“The two stolen helmets were immediately sold via COD near the STAN campus, each helmet costing Rp. 50 thousand,” he said.
Currently the perpetrator has been successfully secured at the Pondok Aren Police. He was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code on theft. (Fik)
