According to the report of the Reuters news agency, the Ministry of Emergency Services of Russia said in a statement that a fire occurred at a fuel station late at night in the southern region of Dagestan, killing 30 people, including 3 children.

The explosion hit a roadside auto repair shop in Dagestan’s capital Makhachkala and spread to a nearby petrol pump, a government official said.

An eyewitness said that there was a war-like atmosphere here.

Another citizen present at the spot said that the fire started at the place where the cars were parked and then spread to the petrol station.

He said that after the explosion, the objects were on top of us and we could not see anything.

Photos released by Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Services show firefighters trying to put out the rising flames.

According to the report, in the videos that have surfaced online, it is seen that the single-story building is on fire.

The Russian ministry said in a statement on Telegram that the bodies of three more people were recovered during the rescue operation in Makhachkala, bringing the death toll to 30.

The statement said that 105 people have also been injured in the fire at the petrol station.

Referring to the Ministry of Health of Dagestan, the report said that 13 children were among the injured.

Russia’s official news agency quoted the Ministry of Emergency Services as saying that it took more than 3.5 hours for firefighters to put out the fire that spread over 600 square meters.

The governor of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that the cause of the fire and the nature of the explosion are being investigated.
