Cries of fraud, protests and cacerolazos in the neighborhoods against Maduro’s proclamation. This Monday, protests were reported in different localities of the country in rejection of the results of the presidential elections, which declared Nicolás Maduro the winner for a third term.

Around 5 p.m., a group of unidentified individuals on Urdaneta Avenue fired shots at where a group of opponents were gathered.
At noon, a general cacerolazo in Caracas sparked discontent among the population, especially in sectors where Chavismo predominated. An unusual event that included demonstrations in Petare, Altamira, Chacaíto, Bellas Artes, La Vega, El Valle, Catia and La Candelaria. Residents of Petare and other popular sectors of Caracas went out to protest amid a huge police deployment against the results announced by the electoral authority.
According to social media posts by journalists and information professionals, there have been protests in Caracas in Petare, the Caracas-La Guaira highway, Catia, Santa Monica, Caricuao, La Vega and El Cementerio. In the interior of the country, protests were reported in Coro, Falcón state, where demonstrators overturned a statue of the late President Hugo Chavez.
Protesting citizens are banging pots and pans to express themselves and some are burning objects in the streets, as is the case in El Cementerio or on the Caracas-La Guaira highway.
In the Chacao municipality, east of Caracas, a repression group dissuaded the spontaneous protest that was concentrated on Galarraga Avenue in the direction of Las Mercedes.
Caracas woke up today lonely and silent, after election results that were already described as fraud by Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado. According to the president of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso, with 80% of the data transmitted, it was concluded that Maduro obtained 5,150,092 votes (51.20%) and González 4,445,978 votes (44.2%). The turnout was 59%.
Machado, in a press conference after the announcement, said that it was a fraud, and warned: “They do know what happened and what they intend to do, the entire international community knows it, even those who were once allies.”
