Iran calls murder of Ismail Hanie a “terrorist act”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry called the assassination of líder of Hamas, Ismail Hanie, as further proof of the terrorist and aggressive nature of the Zionist government of Israel, which occupies the ancestral territories of the Palestinians.

“This terrorist act is not only a flagrant violation of the principles and norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, but also a serious threat to regional and international peace and security,” says a statement from the ministry. Foreign Ministry, cited by IRNA.

They also denounced that the criminal act occurred in line with the murder of líderis of the Palestinian resistance in other countries in recent decades. Furthermore, they considered Hanie’s murder as part of the genocide program against the Palestinians, especially in the last 10 months, increasing insecurity in the West Asian region.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the aggressive action of the Zionist regime in the assassination of Ismail Hanie, and by emphasizing its inherent right to respond appropriately to this aggressive action against its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement emphasizes.

Iran appeals to legitimate defense

Likewise, the Iranian ambassador to the UN, Amir Said Iravani, expressed in a letter to the world organization that his country will not hesitate to use the right of self-defense for a decisive response to the murder of líder of Hamas.

Iravani condemned the “atrocious crime” perpetrated this Wednesday against Hanie, who had been invited to the inauguration ceremony of the new president of the Islamic Republic.

The criminal aggression against the head of Hamas was considered a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran, the diplomat emphasizes in the letter.

Iran’s ambassador to the UN blamed the Israeli terrorist regime and its supporters for the aggressive action against the sovereignty of the Persian country and the martyrdom of Hanie, for which the Persian nation will not hesitate to use its inherent right to self-defense for a “decisive and immediate” response, he insisted.

Pezeshkian denounces support for the Zionist regime

On the other hand, the new Iranian president, Masud Pezeshkian, described the criminal action of the murder of the martyr Ismail Hanie as an example of the savage nature of the Zionist regime and its lack of compliance with international laws and treaties.

“The criminal Zionist regime kills women and children in Gaza, bombs schools and hospitals, but the unfortunate thing is that human rights defenders support this regime,” he reproached.
