OAS accuses the ruling party of “distorting” the results of the presidential elections

This Tuesday, the Organization of American States (OAS) denounced “the most aberrant manipulation” by declaring Nicolás Maduro the winner of the presidential elections in Venezuela on Sunday, July 28.

In a statement from the office of the Secretary-General, Luis Almagro, It was reported how the National Electoral Council (CNE), without all the minutes or evidence of a mathematical victory, proclaimed the official.

“Throughout this electoral process, the Venezuelan regime has been applying its repressive scheme, complemented by actions aimed at completely distorting the electoral result, making that result available for the most aberrant manipulation.”the text reads.

In the letter from the General Secretariat of the OAS, the CNE was accused of not being able to “to present the minutes by which (Maduro) would have won, which at this point would be laughable and pathetic if it were not tragic”.

Almagro pointed out that Maduro must accept the minutes compiled by the opposition, which would give the victory to Edmundo González Urrutia.

If you do not do so, In its statement, the OAS suggested holding new elections with the presence of observers. both of the body as well as the European Union and other international organisations.
