The black-blue state government has already rejected the idea: a zero-wage round, as will be the case for top federal politicians in 2025, is not an issue in Upper Austria. Instead, the plan is to adopt the legally stipulated adjustment factor for salaries in state and municipal politics.

Criticism of this decision comes from SP state councillor Michael Lindner, who is calling for a zero-wage round out of “respect for the people of Upper Austria, especially those who are suffering from inflation”.
