Venezuela breaks diplomatic ties with Peru

The government of Venezuela has broken diplomatic ties with Peru, considering that this country ignores the will of the Venezuelan people, after Peru decided to recognize Edmundo González Urrutia as the winner in Sunday’s elections.

The Venezuelan government has decided to break diplomatic relations with Peru, as established in Article 45 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, Foreign Minister Yván Gil reported through X.

Gil stressed that this decision was motivated by the “reckless” statements made by Peruvian official Javier González-Olaechea, which, according to the Venezuelan government, disregard the will of the Venezuelan people and the Constitution.
