The National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) has announced different levels of risk in the maps related to the risk of forest fires for the period from July 29 to 31.

The agency reported that after analyzing data related to the quality of forest cover, its flammability and combustion, climate forecasts and topographical conditions of the regions, a red-level risk was identified in the provinces of Chefchaouen, Taza, Guercif, Sefrou, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Oujda-Angad and Taroudant.

The same agency warned of a high risk of orange level in the provinces of Tangier-Asilah, Ouezzane, Taounate, Al Hoceima, Driouch and Essaouira, and of a medium risk of yellow level in the provinces of Tetouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Rabat, Skhirat-Temara, Salé, Kenitra, Nador, Berkane and Agadir Ida Outanane.

The National Agency for Water and Forests highlighted that this bulletin comes within the framework of anticipating the phenomenon of forest fires at the national level, based on scientific data and forecast maps that accurately identify sensitive areas exposed to the risk of forest fires.

The National Agency for Water and Forests called for caution and vigilance on the part of residents living near forest areas or those working in them, as well as vacationers and visitors, asking them to avoid any activity that might cause an outbreak and to quickly inform the local authorities if any smoke or suspicious behavior is detected.

This comes at a time when the General Directorate of Meteorology warned in a warning bulletin of a heat wave that could reach 47 degrees in Sous and other regions of the Kingdom.

The General Directorate of Meteorology expected a heat wave with temperatures ranging between 42 and 47 degrees, starting from Tuesday until Friday, in a number of regions of the Kingdom.

The Directorate stated, in its orange alert level bulletin, that a heat wave is expected to be recorded, with temperatures ranging between 42 and 46 degrees, starting from Tuesday until Friday, in the prefectures and provinces of Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Guercif, Taounate, Taza, Settat, and Khouribga.

In the same context, the Directorate expected temperatures to range between 43 and 47 degrees, starting from Wednesday until Friday, in the prefectures and provinces of Marrakech, Rehamna, Kelaat Sraghna, Awsard, Oued Eddahab, Boujdour, Assa Zag, Smara, Tata, and Taroudant.
