At least eight people were killed and more than 60 were injured when huge billboard collapsed during a storm in Mumbai, western India.
As reported by the APE – MEP, stormy winds caused the collapse of a metal sign, approximately 30 meters long, on a gas station in the suburb of Ghatkopar, in the eastern part of the Indian metropolis.
Videos broadcast by Indian television networks showed the metal sign swaying in the strong wind before collapsing and crushing buildings, vehicles and passers-by.
A search and rescue operation is underway at the site, as authorities estimate that 20-30 people remain trapped in the debris, according to officials cited by the Times of India. The operation of the international airport was also suspended for about an hour due to the bad weather, as reported by the news agency ANI.
