Not only is this song the strongest song he has ever written, but it is also one of his most personal.
I Hate Texas is filled with beautiful violin accompaniment and was written with fellow musician, Underscores.
In this song, the singer whose real name is Maia gives a fantasy picture of running away after a breakup, complete with sweet poetic lyrics such as, “I haven’t left my apartment in a real long time / I’m making friends with the stars at night” to the completely honest ones such as “i hate texas / But the exits have more room to run away from you”.

For Maia, the song I Hate Texas reminds her of a time in her life.
“Working on this song reminded me of when I first started writing music, it felt like I was really in my element. I felt inspired to be a little sarcastic and I ended up writing a song with a bold side just because it was fun,” she said.
Last month, Mxmtoon also released his project with LEGO Horizon Adventures, where he wrote and performed the game’s main song, Post-post Apocalyptic Dance Party.

The project is being worked on with some of the best talent in the music industry. In terms of songwriting and production, Maia is working with Grammy-winning writer and producer Kellen “Pom Pom” Pomeranz, who is one of the people behind John Legend’s Bigger Love album.
The song was mixed by Grammy award winner Laura Sisk, who was one of the engineers behind Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Evermore album.
In terms of mastering, this song was done by Heba Kadry, who is also known for her contributions to the catalogs of musicians such as Bjork, Slowdive, and even Ryuichi Sakamoto.
In addition, the string recordings on this song were also recorded at the most legendary studio in London, AIR Studios. The team involved in the process of recording the strings for this song is also the team that filled the score for the game. (Z-1)
