Maduro stressed that the opposition will not be able to create a political crisis in Venezuela.
He showed pictures and videos of the riots currently taking place in the country, and added: “Are these the people who will rule Venezuela? That’s why they want to come to power and take office? To start a civil war?”
He continued: “They want to create a political crisis, they will not be able to do that, violence and fascism will not win.”
Maduro said a joint meeting of the State Council and the National Security Council would be held on Tuesday to plan a major dialogue on five economic, social, cultural, spiritual and political topics.
Maduro pointed out that “all of Venezuela is invited, this is a sovereign dialogue, a dialogue between Venezuelans.”
This comes hours after the National Electoral Council officially announced Nicolas Maduro’s victory in the elections.
Following the announcement of his victory, Maduro warned against attempts to “destabilize” the country.
He said there was an “attempt to organize a fascist and counter-revolutionary coup,” accusing what he described as “far-right fascist groups” and the countries supporting them “under the management of American imperialism” of trying to cast doubt on the electoral process in Venezuela.
Maduro pledged to ensure “peace and prosperity for the country and national unity based on dialogue,” adding that “Venezuela will triumph again.”
The opposition announced its rejection of the election results, accusing the authorities of rigging them. The opposition forces considered their candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, the winner of the elections.
