PT Selalu Cinta Indonesia (SCI), a member of the Karet Murni Kencana (KMK) Group, exported three containers of Nike brand footwear products worth US$405 thousand or equivalent to Rp6.50 billion to the European Union (EU) and the United States (US), Friday (26/7), in Salatiga, Central Java.
“The government continues to support our businesses and industries in various ways so that they can continue to increase their export capabilities. We encourage labor-intensive footwear factories such as Nike’s manufacturing factory to continue to increase exports,” said Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
According to him, Indonesia is the world’s 6th largest footwear exporter. The growth trend of Indonesian footwear exports to the world has increased by 13.13% in the last five years (2019-2023).
PT SCI is the first shoe factory for the international market to expand to Central Java and absorb almost 20 thousand workers. SCI’s product exports also reach 57 countries. In addition, Nike Indonesia has established partnerships with several manufacturing companies in Indonesia.
The European Union is also a major destination for Indonesian footwear products. The export value to the European Union was recorded at US$698.91 million in the January-May 2024 period. Meanwhile, the US is one of the main export destinations for Indonesian footwear products.
The value of Indonesian footwear exports to the US reached US$914.76 million in January-May 2024. This value increased by 19.43% compared to the same period in 2023 and grew by 12.86% in the last five years (2019-2023). (Ant/Z-2)
