Morocco beat Argentina in 2024 Olympics match that was interrupted for two hours

The Moroccan national team defeated the Argentine team in a match of the football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The match took place at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the Moroccans, with Soufiane Rahimi scoring twice. Giuliano Simeone scored for the Argentines.

In the 16th minute of added time in the second half, Argentinean Christian Medina equalized the score, but the referee of the match, Glenn Nyberg, blew the whistle and went to watch VAR. At this time, riots began in the stands, due to which the match was interrupted for two hours. After the resumption of the game, which took place in empty stands, the referee, after watching VAR, canceled the Argentine goal due to offside.

After the match resumed, the teams played for three minutes, after which referee Glenn Nyberg blew the whistle to end the match.

Both teams are in Group B, which also includes Iraq and Ukraine. The football tournament at the Games in the French capital will end on August 9.
