FAO calls for suppliers of improved stoves for the Proeza project in Paraguay

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works reported that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched a call for companies and industries interested in providing improved wood-burning stoves for the Poverty, Reforestation, Energy and Climate Change (Proeza) project.

The Proeza project, led by the Government of Paraguay, is funded by the Green Climate Fund and has technical cooperation from FAO. It is part of the Government’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate and improve the capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change in rural communities, in compliance with the agreements of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Paraguay, is part of Component I of PROEZA, “Planting for the Future,” which aims to implement agroforestry systems and install improved stoves in vulnerable households in the Eastern Region of Paraguay.

Those interested can register until July 31, 2024 through the link: https://www.ungm.org/Public/Notice/240144 or by scanning the QR code available in the official call.

The stoves must comply with the standards of the “Tatá Piriri” model, developed by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.

The first phase of implementation is planned for the second half of 2024. This model is expected to benefit women in particular, reducing their exposure to harmful emissions and alleviating the burden of household chores related to food preparation.

These energy-efficient devices aim to improve the living conditions of the population and reduce emissions of polluting gases.
