The Olympic organizer received harsh criticism – brought in reserve drivers and a ton of meat

On Monday, the criticism that has been directed at the organizers was the subject of a press conference with Olympic director Etienne Thobois.

He claimed that the problems related to the transport of athletes and the access to food in the participant village have been resolved.

Thobois says that reserve drivers and buses are now used to ensure that the athletes are transported satisfactorily, and adds that the system now works “one hundred per cent”.

Several Olympic participants have complained about long waiting times for transport to arenas and cramped conditions on the buses. Many have also been dissatisfied with the quality and quantity of food.

Thobois states that several eggs and a tonne of extra meat have been brought in. In addition, 1,000 baguettes are now sold in the Olympic village every day.

Among other things, it is the British who have been upset about the food situation.

– There is not enough of certain foods: eggs, chicken, certain carbohydrates, Anson says of the selection in which a great many Norwegian participants also participate, said Andy Anson, head of the British Olympic operation, to The Times recently.

– And then you have the quality of the food, with raw meat served to athletes, he added.

Some British athletes were reported to have traveled to the troop’s other bases elsewhere in the French capital to get food and pick up packed lunches for dinner.
