If we still needed proof that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are going through a serious marital crisis that raises fears of the worst (a divorce)… According to TMZ, the actor has just purchased a new house in Los Angeles, a mansion located in Pacific Palisades for which he paid the tidy sum of 20.5 million dollars. This residence includes, among other things, five bedrooms and six bathrooms, a breakfast room and a dining room, a guest house, etc. On paper, it would be ideal for any family, except that Ben bought it for himself alone. In recent weeks, Ben Affleck has lived as a single man in a rented house just steps away from his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner; he has found himself a true pied-à-terre.

Not reassuring then, especially since earlier this summer, Ben and J.Lo put their Beverly Hills house on the market for 68 million dollars, a year after buying it for 60 million dollars. The couple visited no less than 80 properties before settling on this one, only to realize that it was not at all suited for them.
“Jennifer and Ben decided to sell their house because neither of them, nor their children, felt at home there,” a source told the Daily Mail. “It was too big, and they felt unsafe, even though they had 24-hour security. Something was off. They are eager to sell it. Ben especially wants to be done with the house. He has never been happy there.”

It’s probably also a bit big now. Separated for several weeks, they spent the 4th of July (American Independence Day) apart, as well as their second wedding anniversary, and it was without Ben that Jennifer celebrated her 55th birthday. Tensions within the couple emerged last February during the grand release of the Prime Video documentary about J.Lo. Since then, they have only been seen together once, in May. Although, according to close friends, they would give themselves a chance to repair their relationship, the divorce papers are reportedly ready.
