Facebook has introduced a new feature for users

Facebook users will now be able to watch videos together with their friends and family in real-time on their smartphones. This new feature has been introduced in the video calls or video conferencing tool rooms in Facebook Messenger.

This announcement was made on September 14 by Facebook.

The company said that through this feature, users will be able to select videos and shows from the social network’s video hub, Facebook Watch, to watch together with their loved ones.

This feature is being rolled out to users of Android and Apple mobile devices worldwide.

The new feature reflects Facebook’s trend to focus on videos as people spend more of their time on the social networking site watching videos as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Facebook, more than 150 million video calls are being made on Messenger every day, in view of which a tool called Messenger Room was introduced. In which 50 people can be part of the video chat.

Facebook Messenger product manager Olivia Grace said in an interview that some users like to watch different videos together, and now that will be possible on a video call.

He said that we are trying to make the experience of watching videos together on a sofa possible on the phone.

The Facebook Watch Video Hub features short and long videos and does not require any subscription to watch them, the hub was primarily introduced to compete with YouTube.

Facebook said this month that more than 1.25 billion people visit Facebook Watch each month, but the company has not yet shared statistics on people using Messenger Rooms.

To watch videos together with friends and family, start a Messenger video call or a Messenger room, then swipe up to the menu and select Watch Together.
