HARRY Maguire says he is still in Manchester United’s plans but insists he is ready to leave if he is no longer needed by United.

“Everything I’ve heard and the way the club has treated me so far, I’m part of the future and now it’s time to work hard and make this club successful again, competing for big trophies,” Maguire was quoted as saying by BetweenFriday (26/7).

The England international defender joined United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a world-record fee.

Maguire has made more than 200 appearances in five seasons with United, but he was rarely used last season due to his unconvincing performances at the heart of the defence.

He has made just 62 appearances in the last two seasons under manager Erik ten Hag, and was even removed as Red Devils captain.

Harry Maguire’s contract will expire in the summer of 2025. This situation has led many to speculate that the 31-year-old defender will soon be sold by MU.

The rumours were strengthened after United brought in talented young centre-back Leny Yoro, and their efforts to get Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

However, Maguire stressed that MU has not shown any signs of selling him in the transfer market. He is now only focused on looking ahead to the new season. (Z-6)
