The giant reactor has already been installed at the Orlen Lietuva factory

It was planned to install the reactor a little earlier, but the work was interrupted by intense autumn rains. It was difficult for the heavy-duty technician to enter the factory.

The reactor has been standing on the construction site, where the raw material residue conversion facility is being built, since August 21.

Cranes, one of which has a lifting capacity of 1,300 tons, the other one has a capacity of 1,700 tons, were brought in especially for the installation work. The transportation of this crane was also coordinated by Mammoet Baltic company.

Transportation of non-standard cargo has been organized since 2019.

In August, the whole of Lithuania watched the path of a record-sized cargo. The Italian-made reactor was brought to the port of Klaipėda by a special ship on August 1 and unloaded at the Bega company, from where the device was taken out on the night of August 6.

Together with the special platforms for its transportation, it weighed about 2.5 thousand. tons.

The vehicle with cargo was 93 meters long, 10.5 meters high, and 6.5 meters wide. Cargo is usually transported at night, at a low speed of 3 km per hour on average.

The reactor is installed in the deep oil refining facility of the “Orlen Lietuva” factory.

The head of the company, Michalas Rudnickis, previously stated that the device will make production more efficient and will allow us to work profitably in the future, regardless of the economic situation in the world.

The general contractor of the project is Petrofac International of Great Britain. The value of the modernization of the factory is about 970 million. euros, the work is planned to be completed in 2025
