On Friday 26/7/2024, in the Plenary Session of the Parliament, in the context of the discussion of a draft law of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports, the Member of Parliament of Achaia, Spyridon Tsironis, was appointed as a special buyer from the Democratic Patriotic Movement NIKI.

In his speech, the MP of NIKI underlined that the Government, with this bill, is dynamically introducing, and at the expense of the physical course, distance education or tele-education, which was tested during the pandemic, with tragic results for the cognitive level of Greek students.

Distance remedial teaching for disadvantaged students, which was discredited by students themselves in the years 2020-2022, is now being reintroduced by the Ministry under a different title, as digital tutoring.

Moving on to another topic, Mr. Tsironis accused the Ministry of carelessness in the legislation, related to the transfers of permanent teachers, and the lack of an overall plan for Education, while he then referred to the provisions of the bill for Ecclesiastical Education, expressing the question :

Regarding the regulation of issues in the sports sector, the MP of NIKI pointed out the lack of principles of good legislation here as well. The Government changes rules, not because the previous ones were ineffective, but because they do not adapt to the individual case it wants to serve.

And Mr. Tsironis closed his presentation with the statement that NIKI, except for certain articles, for the above reasons, will vote against this bill.
