MOPC received 15 bidders to build the “Immigrant Route” in Itapúa

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications received a total of 15 bids on Thursday for the paving works at the entrance to the historic Paredón de Hohenau port, a project long awaited by the community.

The works on the so-called “Immigrants’ Route” will mean for farmers and dairy producers in Hohenau and the surrounding area the end of transportation problems during the rainy season and will facilitate the movement of more than 350,000 tons of grain stored annually. The Paredón port is the oldest in Hohenau and the second largest in bulk cargo in the entire department of Itapúa.

Construction will cover 11.7 km and will begin on route PY06 north of the Maternal and Child Polyclinic. The works will include the construction of the structural package, asphalt regularization, asphalt concrete layer on the roadway, and complementary works, with an execution period of 18 months.

The independent companies and consortiums that were presented are Benito Roggio e Hijos, LT SA, TyC SA, Constructora Heisecke, Teco SRL, Tecnología del Sur SAE, Construmaq Sur SRL, MM SA, Construpar SA, Ing. Miguel Angel Chaves H., Initiatives Constructivas SA, Consorcio Paredón (Wheel Co SA, Constructora Río Paraná SA) Consorcio VSC (Empresa de Construcciones Edivi SA, Vial Sur SA) Consorcio Trinidad (Chaves Construcciones SAI, Construcciones y Propiedades Paraguayas SA) and Constructora Asunción SA.

The bids range from G. 31,236,060,778 to G. 53,189,000,000 and involve 18 national companies in total, including those in consortiums, whose proposals will be evaluated by the MOPC Bid Evaluation Committee.

Scope of the works and their economic impact

This improvement not only seeks to optimize the road infrastructure, but also represents a commitment to the future of Colonias Unidas and the entire south of the country. It is expected to boost tourism, attract investments to the upcoming Pradera Alta Industrial Park and boost the agro-industrial development of the region.

This work is part of the first stage of the Immigrant Route, which extends 42 km from the center of Hohenau to Hohenau 5.

The initiative symbolizes recognition and investment in a region that has contributed significantly to Paraguay’s economy and culture for generations, the Ministry of Public Works reports.
