At dawn on July 29, a new day began for the Guatemalan delegation competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

After the performances of Jacqueline Solís in judo and Kevin Cordón in badminton, it was Jean Pierre Brol’s turn to compete at the Chaterauroux Shooting Centre against 29 other shooters, including some of the leading names in hunting weapon shooting such as the French Sebastien Guerrero, who has currently equalled the world record for the classification.

Jean Pierre had to wait for his debut, but after the first round of shooting by the other teams was over, The Guatemalan came on stage at the Chaterauroux Shooting Centre and finished with 24 of 25 broken plateswhich placed him in 12th position in the classification.

Later in the second round, Jean Pierre was one of 11 shooters to achieve a perfect score of 25 out of 25, earning him a 49/50 and second place in the overall standings.

The day continued in Chaterauroux, a town about two hours from Paris by train, but in his third round he missed two shots at the clays, which left him with a score of 23 out of 25 and a total of 72/75.

Having missed those two shots complicates his attempt to reach the final round.since with only 50 more plates in dispute, Brol has 9 shooters with better or equal scores in front of him to enter the top six.

Jean Pierre Brol will be back in action on Tuesday 30 July at around 1.00am for the second day of qualifying. If he finishes among the top 6 shooters, he will advance to the medal fight which will take place at 7.30am.
