Taylor Swift in Vienna and more: The concerts in August

August is full of exciting concerts, with one big concert highlight after another.

International superstars are set to perform in Austria, especially in Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium. However, multiple concerts by Taylor Swift on August 8, 9, and 10 are already sold out. There are other music experiences available to enjoy if you miss out on her shows.

90s Nostalgia in Prater

Experience a blast from the past with Eurodance sounds at the “90s Super Show” at Kaiserwiese on August 3. The event will feature acts from the VIVA and MTV era like Culture Beat, East17, Loona, and more, along with laser shows and exciting outfits, hosted by VIVA veteran Mola Adebisi starting at 3 p.m.

Head to the Salzkammergut on August 31 for a unique concert by Austrian duo Attwenger at the summit of Dachstein.

The arena has several treats to offer in August:

  • The German indie pop band province is currently one of the hottest festival acts among GenZ music fans (but not only). On their “Heimweg” tour, the four young men will be stopping at an open air venue in Vienna on August 4th.
  • Also under the open sky on 14 August with Placebo further. Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal have brought with them many hits from their almost 30-year band history as well as their current album “Never Let Me Go”.
  • The month in the arena ends with two concerts by the Swiss singer-songwriter Faberwho will be performing his brand new album “Addio”. The 29th of August is already sold out, but there are still tickets available for the additional show on the 28th.

TayTay-Mania in Vienna

1, 2, 3 – LGB! From August 8th to 10th, Vienna will be teeming with friendship bracelets and glittery outfits: Taylor Swift is making her first live visit to Austria on her gigantic “The Eras” tour. All three concerts at the Happel Stadium were sold out within a very short time. After her seven shows in Germany, the US pop star will make three more stops in Warsaw before heading off to Vienna next week. The US band will be there as support Paramore.

Music is also playing in Upper Austria: several well-known artists have announced their performances in the Mühlviertel this summer. After party guests sang along to his 25-year-old hit “L’Love always” racist slogans shouted (the KURIER reported)the Italian has repeatedly made headlines in recent months, with numerous clubs announcing that they would no longer play the song. At the festival in St. Pölten, the song will probably also be removed from the setlist.

Four Coldplay performances in the stadium

The Swift Marathon is not enough, the event continues in August at the Happel Stadium: The British band Coldplay makes on their “Music Of The Spheres” tour for the whole four dates in Vienna Halt (21, 22, 24, and 25 August). This makes Coldplay the first band to play four concerts in a row at the Ernst Happel Stadium (with a one-day break). All four evenings are already completely sold out.

Pizzera & Jaus in the State Opera

The local duo is having an “intermezzo” at the Vienna State Opera: With their current program “Paul Pizzera and Otto Jaus will be appearing on the big stage of the Haus am Ring on August 22nd for “Comedian Rhapsody”. The fans’ anticipation for the evening was evidently high, as there are no more tickets available.

Although it is the first time the two of them are there together, it is still not a premiere for them – after all, Jaus has sung there with the Vienna Boys’ Choir since he was a child, while Pizzera has already chatted with Gabi Hiller and Philipp Hansa on the stage of the State Opera during a live recording of his podcast “Hawi D’Ehre”.

Back to Upper Austria, more precisely to “Classics at the Cathedral”: Linz is “ready for the island” when songwriter Peter Cornelius Open Air in front of the Mariendom. As usual with a guitar in hand, accompanied by Bass, drums, and keyboards, Cornelius will serve his fans classics like “Sail in the wind” or “Excuse me, I know you”.

The Viennese Band Wanda deals with challenges and strokes of fate on their new album “Ende nie”: In autumn 2022, keyboardist Christian Hummer last year, singer Marco Wanda also had to say goodbye to his father. It’s not easy to process all of this, but the band tried anyway. You can hear what it sounds like live on August 30th in the atmospheric ambience of Kufstein Fortress in Tyrol.

A “concert at lofty heights” awaits you at the end of the month in the Salzkammergut: The duo Markus Binder (drums) and Hans-Peter Falkner (accordion) are considered one of the most innovative bands in Austria and fuse elements of folk with punk, rock, hip-hop, and electro.
