The Tijuana-born athlete is representing the European country for the second consecutive Olympic Games

Mexican archer Gaby Schloesser represents the Netherlands for the second consecutive Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

At Tokyo 2020, Gaby Schloesser was part of the mixed team from the Netherlands that won the silver medal after losing in the Final against South Korea and this Sunday they stayed in the Semifinals after losing again against the Asians.

Gaby Schloesser was born in Tijuana, Baja California, on February 18, 1994 and competed in archery for Mexico during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. However, she adopted her partner’s nationality, obtained a passport in 2020 and decided to join the Dutch team.

Gaby Schloesser and the Netherlands team came close to making it to the Women’s Team Final on Monday after holding a 4-2 lead over South Korea with scores of 57-53, 52-53 and 58-57. However, the Asians rallied with a 59-51 to tie the game and secured their place by winning 5-4 in the final set.

Gaby Schloesser faced Mexico in search of bronze

Paris 2024 represented the opportunity for the Tijuana native to face her native country in search of the bronze medal in women’s team archery.

Mexico lost its Semifinal match against China by falling 5-3 after finishing with partial scores of 53-47, 52-55, 56-58 and 55-55.

In the duel for the bronze medal, Mexico won 6-2, with scores of 57-50, 54-56, 56-53 and 57-52.

The Netherlands advanced from the Round of 16, where they beat France 6-0, then beat India 6-0 before falling to South Korea in the semi-finals.
