The Indonesian badminton team will start competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The first day of badminton matches will take place at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, Paris, Saturday (27/7) WIB.
Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto maintained their focus to start the preliminary round of the men’s doubles Group C against the German pair, Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel. Fajar/Rian realized that the first match would be crucial.
“We will discuss again with the coach, watch their game videos to prepare a suitable strategy. Now it’s just a matter of maintaining our condition and maintaining our mentality,” said Rian.
Winning the first match will be very important to build mentality. In Group C, Fajar/Rian also compete with the host representatives, Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar and Satwikssairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (India).
For the doubles, only the top two pairs in the standings will advance to the next round. Fajar/Rian admitted that they were highly motivated to give their best at the Paris Olympics.
“Every Olympics has its own story. The struggle of the seniors, especially the badminton players who won gold medals, really inspires us,” said Fajar.

On the other hand, Fajar/Rian admitted that they hoped to be able to participate in the Indonesian team’s parade at the opening of the Olympics. However, the match schedule that had already started made them choose to focus on the first match.
“We definitely want to join the opening of the Olympics. We want to experience the event, especially since the opening of the Olympics this year is being held on the Seine River, which is so beautiful and romantic,” said Fajar.
“But indeed our schedule is already playing on Saturday so we choose to focus on the first match only. Hopefully on another occasion, we can participate,” he said. (Z-11)
