Deputy Inspector General of The police (DIG) Karachi South Asad Raza told Independent Urdu on Saturday that ‘Zulfiqar Ahmed’s abduction case was registered against Pracha Textile Mills manager Imran Malik.’

According to FIR complainant Imran Malik: ‘Zulfiqar Ahmed left his office at Maripur Road Sher Shah at around 5.30 pm on July 23 to go to Clifton with his friend Qaiser. At six o’clock Kaiser called him and informed him about the incident.

According to the FIR: ‘When Zulfiqar Ahmed and his friend Qaiser Agra reached the Edhi Mobile Center on Maripur Road near Taj Colony, a white Toyota Surf, without a number plate, stopped their vehicle.

Eight unidentified armed men got out of the vehicle and took Zulfiqar Ahmed and his friend Qaiser with them. After some time Qaiser was thrown from the car and Zulfikar Ahmed was forcibly kidnapped and taken with him.

According to the text of the FIR: ‘Zulfiqar Ahmed is still missing and his mobile phone is also switched off.’

On receiving the news of the abduction, Zulfiqar’s family and the company management submitted an application to Kalri police station on the same day. However, as the police did not file a complaint, the family approached the Sindh High Court on Friday to register a case of kidnapping.

Zulfiqar Ahmed’s wife Anbar Zulfiqar said in the application given to the court that on receiving the information about her husband’s disappearance, manager Imran Malik requested to register a case at the Kalri police station, but the police have not registered an FI yet. He has found out her husband.’

The Sindh High Court, while hearing the petition on Friday, has issued a notice to the Federal Ministry of Interior, Sindh Home Department, Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh and sought a response by July 30.

After the preliminary hearing, the court also summoned the station house officer (SHO) of Kallari police station on July 30 in his personal capacity.

Zulfiqar Ahmed is the Chief Executive Officer of Textiles and Meezan Group since 2016, who is also known for his philanthropic work.

Zulfikar Ahmed’s lawyer told Arab News that after the court order and his protest went viral on social media, his team reached the police station where a case was finally registered after a four-hour wait on Friday and a copy was provided to him. went

He further said that the matter became more complicated when two senior employees of Cola Next were picked up from Lahore and Kasur after the court order issued on Friday.

Meezan Beverages Deputy Manager for Finance Hasan Nawaz was kidnapped from Lahore while the company’s General Manager Daniyal Afzal Khan was abducted from Kasur by armed men in white double cabin vehicles.

He said that an application will be made in the Lahore High Court for the release of the two employees.
