Defending champions Sturmer Graz face a tough task in the second round of the Uniqa ÖFB Cup. As Sunday’s draw revealed, the double winners will face second division side SV Ried. Like last year, Rapid will face Donaufield in the derby. Salzburg, together with coach Toni Polster, travel to Vienna Vienna, while Vienna Austria also face regional league side ASKÖ Oedt. The competition will be held from August 27th to 29th.
The Sturms have lost to the Reeds in the cup so far. In October 2021, Invertel won 2-1 in the round of 16 in Graz to advance to the final. Since then, Sturm has racked up 13 wins, the latest being a hard-fought 4-2 victory in Krems on Saturday.
The Eastern Liga team Donaufeld defeated SCR Altach 2-0. This is the only team in the Bundesliga that was eliminated at the beginning. They are expected to face Rapid Team again. Last year, Hütterdorf won 7-0 in the first round. The 2025 final is scheduled to take place in Klagenfurt on May 1. The stadium on Lake Wörthersee will be the venue for cup finals until at least 2026.
