The Minister of Health referred to the response of the private doctors in the hospitals of the region where there is a problem of on-calls, after an invitation from the Ministry of Health, but also to the decision of the Panhellenic Medical Association (PIS) to refrain from electronic prescribing Adonis Georgiadesspeaking in the morning on the television station ACTION 24.
“The initiative of the Ministry of Health has been absolutely justified. We started an effort to solve a time-consuming issue in various hospitals around the country that had gaps in their wards. With our initiative, everything was now covered and many private doctors came voluntarily, without us having to implement any such provision.
And in Xanthi, and in Drama, and in Kozani, and in Sparta and elsewhere, private doctors declared their intention to take over duty at public hospitals. So, what we wanted to achieve in favor of the patients and in favor of the public system we have already achieved,” said Adonis Georgiadis.

Speaking about the decision of the P.I.S. to refrain from electronic prescribing, the Minister of Health appealed to doctors not to follow this exhortation.
“Why this exhortation of the P.I.S. if it eventually succeeds and is followed it will have a terrible suffering on the patients. If a patient goes to a doctor today and says “I’m not giving you an electronic prescription and I’m giving you a paper one”, he has the following options: Or go to the pharmacy with the paper and therefore pay for all the medicines out of his own pocket because he can’t to execute a written prescription or he will have to go to a public structure and have someone write it for him as an immaterial prescription,” he said characteristically.
This is an inconvenience for the patient, he said emphatically, emphasizing that P.I.S. with his action it is not directed against the minister, it is directed against the patients. “They are going to make the patients suffer while the ministerial decision will not be issued since the problem has now essentially been solved.
