Meet and greet session for the film Puang Bos (MI / Fathurrozak)

The comedy drama film entitled Puang Bos from the production house Megti Media Film (MMFilm) in collaboration with the technology platform Privy also took part in enlivening the Makassar International Eight Festival & Forum 2024 (F8 Makassar).

The film Puang Bos, directed by Adink Liwutang and Rusmin Nuryadin, highlights local cultural wisdom and educates its audience by thoroughly examining the history of the Pinisi Ship-making process which has been designated an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Privy CEO and producer of the film Puang Bos, Marshall Pribadi, hopes that this film will have a big impact on promoting tourism in South Sulawesi.

“Of course we hope that this film can be a medium to help promote local tourism potential, especially culture and natural beauty in Bulukumba. Not only that, this film is also expected to further foster public awareness and love for Indonesian cultural heritage,” said Marshall during the meet and greet session of the Puang Bos Film, which was held on Saturday (27/7), to journalists, at the Losari beach stage.

Puang Bos collaborates with top national actors and comedians such as Michelle Ziudith, Ibrahim Risyad, Pritt Timothy, Gilbert Patiruhu, Zoe Levana, Mongol Stres, and Arif Brata.

This first film by MMFilm is wrapped in a drama and comedy story, bringing the warmth of a family story that is close to the Indonesian people, especially in Sulawesi.

The two main actors of the Puang Bos film, Michelle Ziudith and Ibrahim Risyad, admitted that they were happy to be able to learn about Sulawesi culture in this film. Both of them also felt challenged to master the Makassar accent, in order to appear well in this film.

“What is certain is that the affixes in the Makassar accent are very difficult because there are so many of them. Maybe I used to hear them often, he added. But it turns out that after I read and started the filming process here, I heard even more advice,” said Ibrahim Risyad.

“If I myself am originally Malay. So if in Medan we don’t use the Batak language, there is only Malay, so we have a stress that is not much different from the Makassar language,” added Michelle Ziudith.

To “peek” at the storyline of the Puang Bos film, the public can also watch the trailer on Youtube. This film will also be aired in 2024, in all cinemas in the country.

F8 Makassar not only carries the spirit of culture and tourism, but also serves as a platform to develop various creative industries, including the film industry.

Makassar Mayor, Moh Ramdhan ‘Danny’ Pomanto explained, F8 Makassar is an art and culture event, which will be presented on a big stage. It is realized in 8 types of festivals, namely Food, Fashion, Fusion Music, Film, Fine Art, Fiction Writers, Folks, and Flora Fauna.

“This is where all abilities meet, where all talents from the children of Makassar, the children of South Sulawesi, the children of eastern Indonesia, the children of Indonesia who collaborate with artists from all over the world meet,” said Danny in his speech at the opening of F8 Makassar 2024, Wednesday (24/7) evening, at the Losari Beach Stage.

As part of F8 Makassar, the film event offers an opportunity for local and national filmmakers to introduce their works to a wider audience. (Z-8)
