The police received a report of rape, which was supposed to have been committed on Saturday morning at an address in Aalborg Municipality. On Saturday evening, two men were arrested at addresses in the Aalborg area. This is stated by the North Jutland Police in a press release.
In its investigation, the police involved the social services, as the victims are so young.
It was the quick investigative steps – consisting, among other things, of questioning the victims, questioning several people and obtaining video surveillance material – that enabled the police investigators to quickly identify the two male suspects in the case.
– That is why we attacked two addresses during Saturday evening. Both the two suspects have thus been arrested, says Police Commissioner Kenneth Rodam, who adds that the two arrested – a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s – were questioned on Saturday evening and night and charged with rape.
On that basis, it has been decided to produce the two men in a constitutional hearing on Sunday with demands for custody.
The head of the investigation calls it a very serious matter. This is rape according to several provisions in Section 216 of the Criminal Code – including sexual intercourse with a child under 15 years of age, where the perpetrator is 22 years old.
– That is why we also ask for the public’s understanding that – both for the sake of the girls and their relatives and for the sake of our pending investigation – we cannot go into detail with the specific circumstances of the case, says Police Commissioner Kenneth Rodam.
The head of the investigation emphasizes, however, that the social authorities have been involved, just as the next of kin of the girls have been informed.
North Jutland’s Police now have a major investigation ahead of them to clarify the entire course of events before, during and after, including mapping the exact movement of the victims and the perpetrators.
The Norwegian Politburo has no further comments on the case at this time.
