Today, on the day of Santiago, the Campiña de Viñuelas Senior Citizens’ Residence celebrates the culmination of a very special journey: its own Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Begun in 2016, the residents have completed the 719 km that separate Viñuelas from the tomb of the apostle, symbolising their achievement with an emotional embrace of the apostle in the Cathedral of Santiago.

The residence has shared a video documenting each stage of the journey taken by the elderly, highlighting their perseverance and community spirit. This experience has not only been a physical and emotional challenge for the participants, but also a tool to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. “Helping Alzheimer’s patients makes us their memory, thus allowing them to continue on their path,” the residence highlights.
