VIDEO | The moment when Guatemala paraded at the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
The 16 national athletes of the Guatemalan delegation paraded on a boat on the Seine River, in front of more than 300 thousand spectators.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games has officially begun. Paris 2024with a historic parade of 200 boats that traveled along the Seine River in the French capital.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony took place outside a sports venue, and the biggest beneficiaries were the spectators, who were able to enjoy the spectacle on the banks of the waterway.
Guatemala was part of the 206 delegations that paraded along the river in the City of Light, and the 16 national athletes left with a smile and with the Guatemalan flag.
The ships will sail for six kilometres and pass under historic bridges and iconic sites, from the Austerlitz bridge to Our Lady and the Louvre Museum.
The Guatemala Parade
The Guatemalan delegation took to the stage heading towards the Esplanade des Invalides and the Grand Palais, wearing their characteristic Olympic uniforms, blue and green and accompanied by traditional details.
The collection “Forests of Hope” is inspired by the name of our country, the feathers of the quetzal and the color of Guatemalan jade. The collection is made up of fresh fabrics reminiscent of the birds that inhabit the Guatemalan forests of Salcajá, Quetzaltenango, Jocotán and Chiquimula.

Kevin Cordon badminton and Waleska Soto hunting riflemen were chosen to carry the Guatemalan flag on the Seine River, and they waved the national symbol before the eyes of the entire world.
For the badminton player who will compete in his fifth Olympics, it was an emotional ceremony, as it was his second time carrying the Guatemalan flag at the opening ceremony, after the 2008 Beijing edition.
