New poll results released on US presidential race

NEW YORK, New York.— This Sunday, the American television network, NBC News, announced the results of a new survey it conducted after the debate in which Joe Biden performed poorly against Donald Trump, but before the attack that the Republican suffered yesterday Saturday in Pennsylvania.

According to the article of Mark Murraypublished on the portal of NBC NewsThe presidential race remains stable, with Biden at a 2-point disadvantage against Trump.

He noted that in an expanded vote that included third-party candidates, Biden led the poll by 3 points.

Among the results, more than 60% of Democrats said they would prefer someone else to be the party’s presidential nominee. Nearly 80% of all voters expressed concerns about Biden’s physical and mental condition.

The popularity of the Democratic Party has declined to its lowest level since the NBC News poll last three decades.

Among other results, the majority of voters continued to express negative opinions of former President Trump, who shows deficits compared to Biden in matters of temperament and honesty and trustworthiness.

The poll was conducted July 7-9 and found that 62 percent of Democrats would prefer another leader for the party.

In the poll, 33% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said they supported Biden as their nominee, compared with 62% who said they would have preferred someone else.

On the other hand, 71% of Republican voters and Republican-leaning independents said they were satisfied with Trump as a candidate, compared with 27% who would have preferred someone else.

The poll shows Biden losing ground to Trump on key presidential attributes after the debate.

By a margin of 49% to 31%, voters voted Trump better than Biden in terms of competence and effectiveness.

Biden, for his part, had a 16-point advantage over Trump when it came to having the right temperament to be president, as well as a 15-point advantage when it came to being honest and trustworthy.

In a head-to-head matchup, Trump led Biden by 2 points among registered voters, 45% to 43%, which is within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

In a hypothetical matchup pitting Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris (if Biden were no longer the likely Democratic nominee), the Republican former president also led Harris by a 2-point margin, 47% to 45%.

Biden’s approval rating drops to 40%

The poll found Joe Biden’s job approval rating at 40% approval and 58% disapproval, down slightly from April’s 42% approval and 56% disapproval, though the move is within the margin of error.

In the history of the NBC News poll, that 40% approval rating for Biden was lower than any other recent first-term president in the summer before his re-election except George H.W. Bush, whose approval rating stood at 34% at this point in 1992 before he lost.

Biden’s rating was 1 point lower than Trump’s 41% approval rating in the July 2020 NBC poll, before Trump’s failed re-election bid.
