Every four years, the world’s best athletes gather in one city to compete at the highest level in their disciplines. This year, it is Paris’ turn to host the Olympic Games, whose opening ceremony will be very different from all those seen so far. The opening parade of Paris 2024 is the first not to be held in a stadium, as the Olympic torch will travel six kilometres along the River Seine to end the event in the centre of the French capital.
