Visit of top IMF and IDB authorities is a vote of confidence for Paraguay, they say

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The historic joint visit to Paraguay by the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, and the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, is a point of confidence for the country, said the Vice Minister of Economy and Planning, Javier Charotti.

The statements were made at the end of the discussion “Global economic situation: Talking with Kristalina Georgieva and Ilan Goldfajn”, given by representatives of both multilateral organizations this morning at the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).

Deputy Minister Charotti stressed that for the first time in history the IMF and the IDB have carried out a joint mission in a country, choosing Paraguay. He indicated that this speaks of the consistency and good policies implemented in our country.

“It is a vote of confidence that good policies will continue to be implemented. The expectations are excellent, not only in monetary matters but also in terms of the country’s development,” he said.

He explained that the IMF and the IDB are supporting the macroeconomic policies implemented by both the BCP and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) with this joint visit to benefit the country’s development.

“Policies that promote fiscal convergence, transparency, debt sustainability, inflation converging again towards the target. These are the types of policies that are being supported, the effort that was made is valued and the commitment of the Government to continue making good policies is ratified, which in the future will be the basis of our development,” said the vice-minister.
