With the Beer Party, the KPÖ, which also already has the necessary signatures, and the parliamentary parties, at least seven parties will be on the ballot in the election on September 29.
“Austria is full,” said Wlazny on Friday after the party said it had submitted its declarations of support in all nine federal states. The party will appear on the ballot paper under the name BIER. According to surveys, the party, which was launched in 2015 as a satirical project by punk rock singer Wlazny, known as Marco Pogo, has a good chance of entering the National Council.
The party already ran in the National Council elections in 2019 – but only in Vienna, where it received just under 5,000 votes. Since 2020, the Beer Party has been represented in district councils in Vienna with eleven seats, but missed out on a place in the Vienna state parliament. The party founder’s greatest success to date was in the federal presidential election, when Wlazny received 8.3 percent of the vote nationwide and even came second in Vienna. He will have a chance to convince potential voters next Wednesday, when Wlazny will be a guest on the “Puls 24” summer talk.
